The Banking, Finance & Investments class at the Arlington Career Center prepares students for entry-level employment in Northern Virginia’s growing banking and financial services sector, by operating The Triple $ Branch, a student-run branch of The Arlington Virginia Federal Credit Union. By operating The Triple $ Branch, students build concrete skills in bank operations, as well as gain a job reference that will propel them toward their future goals. Instruction in the fundamental concepts of finance and money management helps students develop financial literacy, which they can use in both their personal and professional lives. The Association for Students and Teachers of Marketing, DECA, provides students the opportunity to network with peers at the local, state and national levels, as they compete for awards and earn scholarships. As one last benefit, Banking, Finance & Investement students who are working after school and/or on the weekends can receive additional academic credit through Virginia’s Cooperate Education Program (see the blue box on the left). Students completing this one-year class can receive / qualify for:

DID YOU KNOW? You can receive additional academic credit for an after-school
or weekend job… that is, if you are a Banking, Finance & Investment
student, and work a job that relates to financial services and/or marketing.
The work-for-credit program is called the "Co-Op Program" and
is run by the Virginia Department of Career & Technical Education.
The program was designed to reward students for choosing jobs that relate
to their future career goals. To read more about the program, click here. |
