- "Little Green House" Exhibit -- students in the Career Center's construction trades classes are building a miniature house on a trailer out of recycled and environmentally-friendly building materials. With additional help from students in engineering, television production, photography and commercial arts, this structure will serve as the center piece of an exhibit on "green" building practices. A Milestone Event was held on May 6, 2009 to celebrate the completion of the exterior of the house.
- Special Olympics -- at the request of Special Olympics International, Television & Multimedia production students created a series of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) to promote respect, tolerance and inclusion towards all people with intellectual disabilities. Two students traveled to Boise, Idaho in February 2009 to present these PSAs at a Global Youth Rally at the 2009 Winter Olympic Games.

Laptop Bee Project (flash video; 1-min. 30-secs.) -- Dr. Frank Linton, a researcher and beekeeper, is exploring the potential
of the XO laptop to monitor the health of bee colonies using audio. Yorktown
student Sheng Zhao wrote an original audio application for the XO, and
Governor's Academy student Matt Gallagher helped him insert it into
the XO operating system, called "Sugar". This video recaps the
Nov. 2008 presentation about their project to the XO Users Group.
- Promotional Videos for Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) of Arlington County (six different two-minute videos) -- VCE of Arlington is a project of Virginia Tech and Virginia State University that offers educational programs to Arlington residents in the areas of agriculture/natural resources, family & consumer science and 4-H youth development. VCE partnered with digital media students in the Fall of 2008 to produce these six promotional videos.
